Job Summary
JOB DESCRIPTION
Leads all aspects of the company’s safety, human performance, corporate security and emergency preparedness functions. Responsible for coordinating with the various groups within the company to promote a strong safety culture with a focus on event free performance even beyond strict safety risks. Directs and coordinates physical security and access programs for corporate facilities and business continuity and recovery plans for both facilities and the electrical system.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides leadership and direction promoting a best in class, comprehensive safety and human performance program and ensuring a safe environment that complies with all applicable federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations governing safety at all facilities and projects.
- Provides leadership and direction on company security policies and supports assessment of physical security needs, monitoring and response to incidents at company asset locations.
- Provides leadership and direction for the Incident Command System (ICS) and emergency preparedness activities for the Company
- Develops and maintains good working relationship with leadership from law enforcement agencies and organizations such as North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC), Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA), OSHA and various local law enforcement agencies.
- Leads and directs company's involvement in North American Transmission Forum activities related to areas of responsibility.
- Maintains a proactive and positive working relationship with field contractor leadership; reconciles any differences in company and contractor requirements with respect to training needs related to safety and human performance.
- Serves on internal and external committees, task forces and working groups, as necessary.
- Coaches, mentors, trains, develops, motivates and supervises staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field required, or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience required.
- Experience in a utility or transmission company environment preferred.
- Strong background in NERC CIP as applied to security requirements
- Proven ability to work effectively with a wide range of cross functional stakeholders, including senior management.
- Ability to provide 24x7 leadership in emergency situations.
- Ability to move frequently between multiple tasks, while prioritizing conflicting priorities.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Sound analytical, problem solving and documentation skills.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
